Active in development and construction of varied real estate mediums, from commercial property to high end multi-family housing, Weinstein Development Company’s diverse portfolio ranges from Western New York to throughout the southeast United States.
Located in Amherst, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, WDC has been involved in the development of its local community since the mid-1970s WDC’s past projects Include a multi-building 60,000sf office complex in Amherst, NY, ownership of the 2.5 million s/f former Westinghouse facility in Cheektawaga, the construction of hundreds of apartments throughout Western New York and the management of both retail and commercial properties in Amherst andTonawanda.
For various banks throughout the country in the 1970s, WDC successfully completed over three thousand condos in Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Chicago and Tuchahoe, New York. Additionally, WDC erected hotels in Lumberton, North Carolina and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In 1979, WDC built a 12,000sf office/warehouse building at 220 John Glenn Drive in Amherst, NY. This building was one of the first erected in the now bustling commercial hub called the Audubon Industrial Park. In 1989, WDC built an additional 48,000+sf of office and warehouse at 210 John Glenn Drive. WDC is headquartered in Suite 8 of the 210 building and remains onsite as a hands-on property owner/manager and enjoys personal relationships with each of its diversified tenants. Tenants range from light manufacturing, industrial testing, health-care, call-centers and even the US Fish and Wildlife.
In 1985, WDC made headlines when it won a bid to purchase the 2.5 million s/f former Westinghouse plant adjacent to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The property accommodated multiple high profile tenants that included Westinghouse, Dupont Chemical, Fisher Price, and Ingram Micro. In 1999 this property was sold to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) in need of the acreage for the expansion of the airport.
WDC ventured outside of its Western New York community again in 2002 to build the HUD financed project, Coventry Green Apartments, in South Carolina. Coventry Green is a 256 unit, 13 building, multi-family housing complex located on the Crowfield Plantation in Goose Creek, a suburb of Charleston, SC.
Having had no new construction for 10 years prior, Coventry Green was a pioneering project for the small Goose Creek community. Since the shovel hit the dirt in 2002, Goose Creek has since become an affluent Charleston suburb with a boom in new construction, population and property values. Much more residential construction has occurred since, but Coventry Green continues to be one of the most successful and sought after multi-family communities in the area.
WDC will continue to expand its portfolio next in Fort Mill, SC. Fort Mill is a growing community just minutes from downtown Charlotte, SC. WDC plans to erect a 15 building, 276 unit, high-end multi-family complex with adjoining commercial and retail facilities on the highly coveted 30+ acres it owns on bustling highway 160. This community is bursting at the seams and this project is expected to match, if not surpass, the success of Coventry Green.
Qualified by its vast array of real estate development experience, WDC has acted as consultant to many other construction projects as well - including retail plazas, restaurant construction, office buildings and more.
